Cause of Bell Bay Clubhouse Fire Not Known

Police and the fire marshall’s office are investigating the weekend fire that destroyed the clubhouse at the Bell Bay golf course in Baddeck.

Fire crews got the call to the blaze shortly before 12:30, yesterday morning.

No one was in the clubhouse at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

Golf course owner Scott MacAulay says they plan to rebuild but adds the priority in the short term is to get the golf course back in operation with temporary facilities.

All 25 staff members at the course are expected to stay on the job.

Course operations manager Eric Tobin says more information about the status of the course will be released in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Baddeck RCMP are asking anyone with information on the fire to call them or Crime Stoppers.
