Campfire Ban This Weekend

Provincial Natural Resources Minister Lloyd Hines has placed a ban on campfires at all provincial parks and private campgrounds this weekend.

Hines says the ban will be in effect from today until Monday because of the high risk of wildfires.
He goes on to say the Fort McMurray fires and the recent fire near Bayer’s Lake in Halifax show the need for an even greater level of caution when the wildfire risk is high.

Campfires will not be allowed from 2:00 this afternoon until 2:00 on Monday afternoon.
Wildfire risk season runs from March 15 to Oct. 15.
