by Parents and students are calling for stricter security protocols at Sydney Academy after a second weapons complaint in five weeks.
The school was put into a so-called hold and secure mode yesterday with students forced to stay in their classrooms while Regional Police officers surrounded the school and carried out a search.
School Board co-ordinator of school services Donnie Holland says a female student alerted school administration about a potential threat at around 8:45, yesterday morning.
He adds the nature of the threat involved someone coming to the school armed.
The hold and secure was lifted shortly after noontime after police said there was no threat to public safety.
Meanwhile, Police spokesperson Shannon Kerr says they’re continuing to investigate but, so far, have no suspects.
