The Orchard, Artist of the Week

Runs May 30-June 3rd.

Royalty Records/Sony Music Entertainment recording artists The Orchard. A Canadian country duo made up of singer/songwriters Kasha Anne and Mitch Smith. Their sound can be defined as smooth alternative country, heavy southern blues, folk influences, guitar driven with powerful vocals.

The pair first met at Cooper Studios in Sherwood Park, where Anne was taking vocal lessons and Smith was teaching guitar. After meeting, the duo entered a song writing competition together, and realizing the chemistry they had when working together, they decided to see what musical magic they could create.

The Orchard’s sophomore album “Georgia” was recorded with Juno Nominated producer “Russell Broom” and features the hit singles “She Don’t Play Fair” and “Angel Eyes”. With the vision in mind, that lyrically the “Georgia” album paints beautiful portraits telling stories from all over the map. Not worrying about caging their sound or their journey as artists. Kasha and Mitch take pride in playing almost all the instruments on the “Georgia” album including guitars, ukuleles and percussion.

The Orchards recent accolades include opening for some of Canada’s biggest names in Country Music: Dean Brody, George Canyon, Chad Brownlee and many more. The Association of Country Music in Alberta (ACMA) has recognized The Orchard by nominating them for several awards this year including“Group of The Year”, “Album of the Year” and “Fan’s Choice”.

The Orchard’s debut album, Southern Ground was released in August 2012 through Royalty Records and received rave reviews, including five singles that entered the top 100 on Trax country charts.
