Heavy Garbage Pickup Starts, Today

The Regional Municipality’s Heavy Garbage Collection begins, today.

People were asked to have their large, heavy or bulky items by the side of the road by 6:00, this morning.

Old furniture, appliances and empty oil tanks and hot water tanks will be collected.

Things that won’t be picked up include old electronics, tires, construction and demolition materials, propane tanks and cylinders, leaf and yard waste and dark garbage bags.

The Solid Waste Department says small or light items that can fit inside a garbage bag should be put out for regular, weekly garbage collection.
