Colin Grant’s Sexual Assault Trial Due To Start, Today

The sexual assault trial for well-known Cape Breton fiddle player Colin Grant is due to get underway today, after being postponed in September and again in December.

Grant’s charge stems from an incident in Mabou in September of 2014.

The 31 year-old Sydney native entered a not guilty plea in May of last year.

Grant has been released on conditions, including that he have no contact with the complainant in the case, whose name is banned from publication.

He’s known for his solo career and as a member of a number of bands.

After he was charged with sexual assault, the award winning traditional group Coig announced that Grant was no longer a member of the band.
