About 120 parents and students gathered outside Bridgeport school to protest its upcoming closure, yesterday.
The school is one of 17 slated for closure by the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board and one of ten that will close in June.
People in the area say they were blindsided by Board’s decision to close the school because the local committee looking at school closure options recommended keeping Bridgeport open.
However, local school board member Gary Fraser says the board decided to close Bridgeport because that option involved the least amount of disruption in moving kids.
Meanwhile, supporters of Bridgeport are vowing to continue the fight to save the school.
