Sydney Man Due In Court After Membertou Shooting

A 20-year-old Sydney man is due in court today after being charged in connection to a shooting incident in Membertou, early Saturday morning.

Michael Joseph Young faces counts of aggravated assault, pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm, carrying a weapon dangerous to the public peace and breaching an undertaking.

Regional Police say they got the call to Membertou shortly before 3:30.

They add a 16-year-old boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his leg in the shooting.

They go on to say Young and the teen are believed to know each other.

Young is being held in custody to await today’s court appearance.
