Attempted Abduction in Glace Bay

A Sydney Mines man is raising concerns after he says someone tried to abduct his daughter in Glace Bay.

Scott MacDonald says his nine-year old daughter was walking down West Avenue at around 4:00 on Thursday afternoon when a truck pulled up and started driving slowly beside her.

He adds the man whistled at her to get her attention and then started screaming at the girl when she ignored him.

He goes on to say this continued for several blocks until his daughter got close to her home and ran inside.

MacDonald describes the truck as two-tone blue and camouflaged with a 4 x 4 symbol on the back.

He says the driver had a heavy build and sported a brush cut, a goatee and dark-rimmed glasses.

Meanwhile, Staff Sgt. Reg Hutchings says police are investigating and adds the man is believed to be in his 50’s.

Anyone with tips on the incident is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
