Seven people were in the home at the time of the fire.
28 year-old John W. Gallie saved his girlfriend, their baby and his blind uncle from the blaze.
43 year-old Craig Alexander Morash rescued his girlfriend and her brother.
Gallie and Morash were in hospital for nine says for treatment of serious smoke inhalation, after the rescue.
Gallie also suffered first-degree burns on about six per cent of his body.
The US-based Carnegie Commission investigates stories of heroism and awards medals and cash several times a year.
A total of 24 Carnegie Medals have been awarded this year, including to Steve Ross and Keiren Tompkins for the rescue of Justin Rouleau from icy waters near Baddeck in 2014.
