One of the organizers of the Ashby Legion’s Chase the Ace lottery says steps will be taken not to repeat Saturday’s mistake of two winning tickets after a meeting with alcohol and gaming officials yesterday.
The Horizon Achievement Centre is the other non-profit group involved in the lottery and the Centre’s Stephen Tobin says the ticket duplication problem was a supplier issue.
He goes on to say checks and balances have been put into the system to make sure it won’t happen again.
Tobin says most of the changes will be internal so that those playing the lottery won’t notice anything different.
The Centre and the Legion decided to give up their profits from Saturday’s lottery and winning ticket holders Marie Matthys from River Ryan and Angie Willems from Scotchtown each took home just over 229-thousand dollars.
The pair did not pick the elusive ace so this week’s jackpot is estimated to be $1.3 million.
