New Cellphone Tower Site For New Waterford

Regional Council will discuss yet another possible site for a cellphone tower in the New Waterford area at this morning’s general meeting.

Area Councillor Lowell Cormier says he’s very satisfied with the latest site for the Eastlink tower that’s on land owned by the municipality.

He adds it’s a relatively isolated location behind Heelan Street that will be leased to Eastlink at a rate of 25-hundred dollars a year.

Two other locations for the tower in the New Waterford area were turned down after people spoke out against them.

Also on today’s agenda, is more discussion on a proposal from Bob Seward from Glace Bay to subdivide land in Catalone Lake for residential development.

And, a Land-use Bylaw amendment to allow a used furniture store to set up on Park Road in Florence is also up for discussion.

This morning’s meeting gets underway at 9:30 at the Civic Centre in Sydney.
