Canada-wide Warrant Issued For Sydney Man

Regional Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a 30-year-old Sydney man who served time for manslaughter in connection to a 2008 double homicide in British Columbia.

Police say Justin Andrew MacKinnon faces charges of home invasion, assault with a weapon and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

They add they’re looking for MacKinnon after officers were called to a home on Keltic Drive in Point Edward shortly before 2:00 in the morning last Thursday.

They go on to say the man in the house was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

MacKinnon is described as six feet tall, weighing about 220 pounds with blond hair, blue eyes and a light complexion.

Police say he’s known to be violent and could be dangerous.

In November of 2013, MacKinnon was sentenced to seven years in prison, less five years served in custody after pleading guilty to manslaughter in BC Supreme Court.

His plea related to the shooting death of a man and woman at their home in Mission, B.C.

MacKinnon was one of four men accused of the crime.
