by A petition is making the rounds against a proposal to consolidate all middle school students on the Northside at Dr. T.L. Sullivan Middle School in Bras d’Or.
The school options committee for the Northside Family of schools is also recommending that Sydney Mines Middle School and Thompson Middle School in North Sydney be closed.
North Sydney parent Clayton Smith says T.L. Sullivan isn’t big enough to accommodate all the middle school students in the area.
He adds most people on the Northside want a new middle school built in a more central location for students in that age group.
Sullivan goes on to say he’s already collected 450 names on his petition.
