Barrett Murder Trial Expected To Resume, Today

The second degree murder trial of Thomas Ted Barrett is due to resume today after Crown and defence lawyers spent the day in a closed-session, yesterday.

They were arguing over the admissibility of a videotaped statement by a witness who is now dead.

In the statement, Sheryl Flynn says 40 year-old Barrett confessed to strangling Brett Elizabeth MacKinnon to death.

Flynn died less than a year later from a drug overdose.

MacKinnon’s remains were found in woods in Glace Bay in 2008, two years after she was reported missing.
