Whitney Pier Church Could Get Its Steeple, Today

Another major step in the rebuilding of St. Mary’s Polish church in Whitney Pier is due to take place today.

Work crews will attempt to lift the church’s new fibreglass steeple into place between 11:00 this morning and 2:00 this afternoon, if wind conditions are right.

The steeple was made by boat builders in Port Morien.

A metal cross for the steeple is being made by students in the metal fabrication program at the Marconi Campus of the Nova Scotia Community College.

It will be installed at a later date.

The former St. Mary’s Church was destroyed by fire in November of 2014.
