Dalian, China To Become Sister-City to CBRM

Cape Breton Regional Municipality meet Dalian, China.

The consultants given exclusive rights to market Sydney harbour have signed an agreement to create a sister-city relationship between the CBRM and the Chinese port city.

Harbor-Port Development Partners, CEO Albert Barbusci says Dalian has agreed to work with them on Sydney’s port development.

However, he adds the real value of the deal is the potential trading that they can do with China.

Mayor Cecil Clarke was recently in Dalian to discuss the sister-city agreement.

He says Dalian is a growing city of six million people that offers great opportunities for the Regional Municipality.

A delegation from Dalian will come to Cape Breton in May to talk about those commercial, cultural and educational opportunities.

The CBRM will be the 17th municipal unit to become a sister city with Dalian, joining a list that includes Vancouver, Houston, Glasgow, Scotland, and Vladivostock in Russia.
