Wintery Storm and Winter Parking Ban, Today

Schools in Cumberland and Colchester Counties are closed, today as a mix of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain hits the province.

Community College campuses in Amherst, Springhill and Truro are also shutdown for the day.

So, far there are no school cancellations in Cape Breton.

Meanwhile, Marine Atlantic now says today’s scheduled crossings have been rescheduled for 11:45 tomorrow morning.

And ferry crossings between Nova Scotia and PEI have been suspended, today.

Also, with the wintery weather on the way, winter parking regulations come into effect throughout the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, today.

People are not allowed to park or leave vehicles on any street or highway between the hours of 1:00 and 6:00 in the morning.

The ban also applies within two hours from the time snow stops falling.
