Regional Police Chief Peter McIsaac says a special investigative unit has been created after a rash of break-ins over the last three months.
He adds the task force has already charged more than a dozen people with well over 100 Criminal Code offences in connection to break-ins at various locations throughout the municipality.
He goes on to say most of the B & E’s took place in Central Division.
McIsaac says four officers are working on the task force that’s found that while some of the break-ins are related, there isn’t one single group of people involved.
Meanwhile, the Police Chief adds that a task force formed to crack down on prostitution in downtown Sydney has expanded its efforts to other areas of Sydney and elsewhere.
27 men were charged with prostitution-related offences after an undercover operation in Sydney in September.
