The main building at the Miners Museum in Glace Bay is in need of some major repairs.
Museum executive director Mary Pat Mombourquette says an audit of the building envelope reveals serious leakage, ventilation problems and architectural issues with the building.
She adds problems with the tower are quite dramatic with a hole in the ceiling and water dripping down.
Mombourquette goes on to say she’s hoping the three levels of government will come together to provide money for the repairs.
She says she’s now in the process of preparing a funding proposal.
Meanwhile, 100-thousand dollars in funding from the three levels of government is slated for renovations to the interior of the company store, the lobby and a couple of the exhibits at the Museum, as well as for costumes for animators.
