A teen struck by a vehicle while driving his bicycle in Mill Creek on Point Aconi Road has died. 17 year-old Devin William Gilbert from Mill Creek died at the QE Hospital in Halifax, yesterday morning. Regional Police got the call to the collision involving a black Hyundai Sonata, shortly before 6:00 on Saturday evening. A 24-year-old man from the Mill Creek area was driving the vehicle. Police say the car was travelling north on the Point Aconi Road and struck the bicycle from behind. Gilbert was taken to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and later driven by ambulance to Halifax because high winds prevented an air ambulance flight. The accident is still under investigation by the Regional Police traffic safety unit.
