Potential Challengers For Bruckschwaiger’s Seat

Two candidates who lost to Darren Bruckschwaiger in 2012 are considering taking a run for his vacant Council seat in the wake of his unexpected resignation, this week.

Lee McNeil and Dave MacKeigan say they’re both mulling the possibility of putting their names on the ballot in the upcoming byelection.

McNeil is a former councillor who ran against Bruckschwaiger after a boundary change.

Both she and MacKeigan say they’ve been getting calls from supporters, asking them to run.

Meanwhile, speculation continues over what prompted Bruckschwaiger to resign since he offered no explanation for stepping down.

He was the only councillor that voted against spending nearly $40,000 on a consultant to interview and hire a new chief administrative officer.

Bruckschwaiger is on the record saying he felt interim CAO Marie Walsh should have been promoted to the job.

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor Kevin Saccary says he’s heard that his former collegue went out West to work.
