Search for MacNeil Suspended

Cape Breton Regional Police have suspended the search for a missing Upper Leitches Creek man as they wait for new information in the case.

Police add they found no clues about what happened to 50-year-old Kenneth MacNeil, during a four-day search.

He was last seen by his sister-and-law on Wednesday afternoon.

Cape Breton Search & Rescue scoured woods on either side of MacNeil’s mobile home on Sunday.

His family says they first realized he was missing when his dog wandered into their yard early Thursday morning and they found the lights and TV on in his home.

Police say MacNeil’s disappearance is out of character, although he has been known to hitchhike to Whitney Pier to visit friends.

He’s described as about five-feet tall, weighing 120 pounds with a slim build and greyish-black hair that falls below his ears and above his shoulders.

He was last seen wearing green flowered shorts and a grey T-shirt.

Police are asking anyone with information on MacNeil’s whereabouts to call them or Crime Stoppers.
