St. Agnes Church Demolished

St. Agnes Church in New Waterford has been demolished.

The church is one of three slated for demolition by the Diocese of Antigonish in February.

Cleanup work at the site by McCormick Landscaping in Sydney is expected to take until the end of the week.

Also on the list for demolition is St. Joseph Church in New Victoria and St. Alphonsus in Low Point.

St. Alphonsus has been given a reprieve from the wrecker’s ball while the Diocese considers a proposal from a community group.

The Stone Church Restoration Society wants to renovate the building for a new use.
