Suspicious Fire at Cornwallis School

Police and the Fire Marshall’s office are due back at the former Cornwallis School in Sydney today where there was a fire yesterday evening.

Security was been put in place at the scene after the blaze was put out.

The building suffered smoke and water damage.

Cape Breton Regional Police Staff Sgt. Max Sehl says it’s too early to say if the cause was criminal or accidental.

However, he adds people may have been seen in the area before the fire was reported.

The building has been vacant since the school closed in 2012.
