The province is going to remove a dead fin whale that’s washed up near the tourist information centre at the Canso Causeway.
People have been complaining about the stench coming from the carcass of the 15-metre mammal.
However, all three levels of government had been battling over who’s responsible for removing it.
Inverness County Warden Duart MacAulay says he sent a letter to provincial natural resources minister Zach Churchill to ask for help with the cleanup.
Now, the MLA for Cape Breton-Richmond and economic development Minister Michel Samson says DNR officials will take care of the carcass.
Samson adds the provincial government decided to take responsibility for the removal despite the dispute over who should pick up the tab.
He says he expects the whale will be removed over the next couple of days.
