Regional Police Being Investigated By SIRT

The province’s Serious Incident Response Team is investigating an arrest made by Cape Breton Regional Police, early yesterday morning.

A 25 year-old man was arrested at around 12:40 am after police say he fled on foot behind homes on George St. near the Sydney Curling Club.

They add the man was a suspect in connection with a home invasion.

He complained of an injury to his ankle after his arrest and was taken to hospital where it was found to have been broken.

He later appeared in court on a number of charges including home invasion, assault with a weapon, resisting arrest, and breach of probation.

The Serious Incident Response Team, or “SIRT” investigates all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia.
