A Sydney psychologist says that cyberbullying has become a major problem in local schools.
Harman Singh has worked with the Cape Breton District Health Authority for the past 16 years.
She says that many young people don’t know how to use social media properly, and is suggesting that teaching proper use be incorporated into the school curriculum.
Singh adds that parents also need to get more involved.
Cape Breton Regional Police say they looked into about a hundred alleged cases of cyberbullying last year, but few charges have been laid as a result.
Police spokesperson Desiree Vassallo says that many cases of cyberbullying are not criminal matters.
