Arrest Made After Shots Fired At Vehicles
A 20 year-old man is making an appearance in Sydney Provincial Court today after allegedly firing a BB gun at vehicles on the Sydney-Glace Bay Highway over the weekend. Regional Police say they received a call at around 20 to 6 on Saturday evening, when a man said that his vehicle and a number of others had been fired upon near the Mayflower Mall. The complainant told police that the vehicle from which the shots came was travelling toward Glace Bay. Police soon spotted the vehicle and engaged in a chase until the driver lost control shortly after rounding the Gardner Road-Glace Bay Highway intersection. The vehicle ended up in a ditch, and upon conducting a search police say they recovered a BB hand gun. The suspect was arrested on a charge of Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public, as well as two counts of breach of recognizance. Two others were also arrested, but were released pending further investigation. No one was injured as a result of the incident. The complainant’s vehicle had minor damage.
