Ski Hill Helping Ski Hill

One of Cape Breton’s ski hills is coming to the aid of the other after an equipment breakdown.

Mechanical difficulties with the groomer at Ski Cape Smokey in Ingonish have forced the volunteers who run the hill to cancel skiing, this weekend.

When the folks at Ski Ben Eoin heard about the troubles facing their counterpart, they decided to come to the rescue.

Ski Ben Eoin president Alan Peddle says they offered not only the expertise of their staff, but also another groomer.

The chair of the Ski Cape Smokey Society, Larry Dauphinee says they’re very appreciative of the offer and adds a Ski Ben Eoin mechanic was on site at Ski Cape Smokey, yesterday morning.

Dauphinee says they’re going to first try to fix the machine at the Ingonish hill.

If that doesn’t work, he says they’ll take Ski Ben Eoin on up their offer of a loaner groomer for next weekend.
