561 New COVID-19 Cases Today, Province Extends Public School Holiday Break

The province is reporting 561 new cases of COVID-19 today.

There are 430 new cases in the Central Zone, with 54 in the Eastern Zone, 39 in the Northern Zone and 38 in the Western Zone.

Meanwhile, the public school holiday break is being extended in the province from the original date of January 6th until the 10th.

The province says the extended break will allow families extra time to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and book vaccine appointments.

It will also give schools time to ensure they’re safe, by removing extra furniture from classrooms to allow for more space while ensuring ventilation systems are working properly.

All staff and students will be given a three-layer mask that must be worn at all times indoors except while eating or drinking.

No non-essential visitors will be allowed in schools and there will be no large assemblies or events.
