The province is reporting 149 new cases of COVID-19 today.
116 of those cases are in the Central Zone, while 11 are in the Eastern Zone that includes Cape Breton.
13 are in the Western Zone and nine are in the Northern Zone.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang says some of the cases reported today come from a backlog of positive cases and the backlog has now been cleared.
The province is also reporting 199 recoveries today.
There’s now a total of 1,621 confirmed active cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia, including 111 in the Cape Breton County Community Health Network and 20 in the Inverness, Victoria and Richmond Community Health Network.
There are now 73 people in the province in hospital with the virus, including 14 in intensive care.
With a growing number of people in intensive care, the province says it’s now increasing the amount of available hospital beds by transferring some patients from hospitals in the Central Zone to hospitals in other zones.
