14 New COVID Cases Reported, Two In Eastern Zone

The province is reporting 14 new cases of COVID-19 today.

Two of those cases are in the Eastern Zone that includes Cape Breton.

Both are close contacts of earlier reported cases.

11 of the cases reported today are in the Central Zone and one is in the Western Zone.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang says the province is making better progress than he expected in bringing cases down but he also says variant forms of COVID-19 still pose a major risk and he told reporters today the rate of testing is not as high as he’d like it to be.

The province is reporting 36 more recoveries today and the total number of confirmed active cases is now 182.

Those include 39 cases in the Cape Breton County Community Health Network and two in the Inverness, Victoria and Richmond Community Health Network.

22 people in the province are in hospital with the virus, including seven in intensive care.
