$14.8 M Announced For New Glace Bay Community Facility

The provincial and federal governments have announced $14.8 million in joint funding to build a new Glace Bay Youth and Community Centre.

Cape Breton-Canso MP Mike Kelloway says the new facility will be environmentally friendly and welcome people of all ages and abilities.

The 26,000-square-foot building will include a multi-use space for youth, families and seniors, as well as indoor and outdoor recreation spaces and a community meeting space.

It will also house a commercial kitchen, a nursery area with an indoor playground and a café.

Ottawa is contributing $8.8 million to the project with $6 million from the province.

The balance of the funding will be provided by New Dawn Enterprises.
