13th Suspicious Fire in CBRM

Investigators in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality are now dealing with their 13th suspicious fire after two blazes overnight, yesterday.

A single story home at 330 Curran Street in New Waterford suffered heavy damage in a blaze that was reported at around 3:30 AM.

The people who live in the home are away on vacation.

Deputy fire marshal Doug MacKenzie says that fire appears to be accidental.

However, the chief of the New Victoria Fire Department, Blair MacIsaac says a fire in that community has been deemed suspicious.

He adds firefighters were called to the scene of a vehicle fire on Wallace Road and found that the blaze had spread to a nearby shed when they arrived on the scene.

The car and shed were heavily damaged and the investigation into the blaze continues.
