120 People Turnout For Meeting On New Sydney Library

About 120 people gathered at the McConnell Memorial Library in Sydney last night to discuss a new library for Sydney.

The crowd was given a presentation on a feasibility study on a proposed library and audience members also shared their own ideas for a new facility.

The study was carried out by Trifos Design Consultants from Sydney along with partners dmA Planning & Management Services from Wolfville and Breton Chartered Accountants.

The full results of the study will be presented to Regional Council in January.

However, last night, Spyro Trifos with Trifos Design Consultants told the crowd there are three options for a new library.

They include a stand-alone building; a mixed-use building where the library is a co-tenant; and a retrofit, where an existing building is converted into a library space.

The study’s authors also told the crowd that Sydney should be prepared for a library that will be more things to more people.

They also say that community groups should benefit from a new library that will offer dedicated spaces for people to come together.
