12 People Forced from Their Homes in Sydney Fire

The Red Cross says twelve people have been forced from their homes after a fire last night damaged a large apartment house in northend Sydney.

The organization says it’s helping all 12 adults with emergency lodging, food and clothing.

The fire at 27and 29 Kendall Street was reported shortly after 10:00.

The Red Cross says the blaze broke out in one apartment in the six-unit building.

It says there was no one home at the time in the apartment and all the other people in the building managed to get out unhurt.

The fire was mostly contained to one apartment but the entire building suffered smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
