111 New COVID Cases Reported

The province is reporting 111 new cases of COVID-19 since the last report on Friday and it’s also reporting another school exposure in Cape Breton and an outbreak at a long-term care home in Cumberland County.

The latest local school exposure was at Boularderie Elementary, where a number of enhanced public health measures are in place.

Nine of the new cases reported today are in the Eastern Zone that includes Cape Breton.

There are also 52 new cases in the Western Zone, with 31 in the Central Zone and 19 in the Northern Zone.

Health officials say the increase in case numbers is related to some religious events, as well as community spread in Cumberland County, including an outbreak at a long-term care home in Pugwash.

With 76 new recoveries, there’s now a total of 255 confirmed active cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia, including 17 in the Regional Municipality.

Nine people in the province are currently in hospital with the virus, including one person in intensive care.
