Schools, CBU, Marconi Campus Closed as Blizzard Approaches

Most of the province is shut down today as a major blizzard is making its way to Cape Breton.

The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board has cancelled classes at all schools today in advance of the storm.

Cape Breton University, the Marconi Campus of the community college and Etoile de l’Acadie in Sydney are also closed today.

All of today’s flights from the McCurdy Sydney Airport to Halifax have been cancelled.

Marine Atlantic has postponed this morning’s crossing from North Sydney until 11:45 tonight.

However, the Crown Corporation says that departure will also likely be affected by the weather.

There are High Water Level, Storm and Freezing Spray Warnings in effect for the Cabot Strait.
