Prison Guards Cleared In Death Of Sydney Man
A New Brunswick judge has thrown out the charges against two prison guards in the death of a Sydney man.
33 year-old Matthew Hines died after being beaten and repeatedly pepper sprayed at Dorchester Penitentiary in May of 2015.
Alvida Ross and Mathieu Bourgoin each faced counts of manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death.
A preliminary hearing took place last fall to determine if there was enough evidence to send the case to trial.
The judge reserved his decision until, today.
