Prison Guards Charged In Sydney Man’s Death Find Out Today If They’ll Go To Trial

A judge will rule today if two prison guards charged in the death of a Sydney man at Dorchester Penitentiary will go to trial.

Alvida Ross and Mathieu Bourgoin each face counts of manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death.

33 year-old Matthew Hines died after being beaten and repeatedly pepper sprayed at the prison in May of 2015.

A preliminary hearing took place last fall to determine if there’s enough evidence to send the case to trial.
