Preliminary Hearing Today for Former Nurse Charged After Death of Man at Regional Hospital

A preliminary hearing is taking place today for a former nurse facing a charge of forgery after the death of a man on the grounds of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

42 year-old Tammy Carrigan-Warner from Sydney River was charged in May of last year along with 48 year-old Valerie MacGillivray from Glace Bay.

MacGillivray has already been committed to stand trial on a charge of forgery.

She’s due back in court on Monday to have a trial date set.

Both Carrigan-Warner and MacGillivray have been fired from their jobs.

The 79 year-old man was a patient at the hospital and was found unconscious on the sidewalk outside the building in February of last year.

Police say documents on the man’s status at the hospital were forged.
