Officers Cleared After Woman Injured at Regional Hospital

The province’s police watchdog has cleared Regional Police officers of any wrongdoing after a woman jumped off a roof at the Regional Hospital last month.

The Serious Incident Response Team says the 22 year-old was arrested on June 10th under the Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment Act after threatening to harm herself.

It says the woman fled from police when she arrived at the hospital and suffered two broken legs and two compressed discs when she jumped off the roof.

The SIRT says the action was the woman’s decision in an effort to escape police.

It also says officers chased after the woman but were unable to stop her from jumping.
