New Waterford Emergency Closed Until New Year

The provincial Health Authority says the emergency department at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital is closed for a few months, starting today.

It says the closure is needed to prepare for the next phase of a project to add a fire sprinkler system.

The work will begin in the next few weeks, and the Health Authority says the hospital’s emergency department will re-open when the project is finished.

That’s expected to be sometime in the New Year.

The Health Authority says other outpatient services will still be available at the hospital.

However, it also says some of those services could be affected by work being done later in the project.
