Former Servicom Workers Owed Pay: Labour Dept.

The provincial Labour Department says former Servicom workers are owed pay.

The finding comes after the department completed an investigation into the sudden closure of the Sydney call centre last year.

The department says affected workers are being sent letters this week explaining the investigation and the pay owed to them.

The government will be making a court application for a bankruptcy order against ServiCom in Canada.

If a bankruptcy order is made by the court, it’ll allow former Servicom workers to apply to the federal Wage Earner Protection Program.

Under the program, each worker may be able to get up to $6,600.

The province says the process will not affect current operations for the call centre’s new owner.
