Former Firefighters Charged With Arson Due in Court
Two former members of the Florence Volunteer Fire Department charged in connection with 16 arson fires are due back in court today to enter pleas.
24 year-old James Clayton MacDonald from Point Aconi faces 16 counts of arson and 49 year old Stephen Eric Tremblett from North Sydney faces 13 counts.
Police laid more charges against the pair, earlier this month.
Tremblett is now also charged with three counts of arson with disregard for human life, two counts of unlawfully being in a dwelling and a single count of trespassing at night.
MacDonald faces new charges of possession of stolen goods, theft of a pry bar from the fire department, three counts of arson with disregard for human life, three counts of unlawfully being in a dwelling, two counts of trespassing at night, and possession of an instrument that could be used in a break-in.
Both continue their release on conditions.
All but two of the fires in the Florence, Little Bras d’Or and Milleville areas involved abandoned buildings and no injuries were reported as a result of the blazes.
