December Unemployment Rate Unchanged From November
The latest numbers from Stats Canada show Cape Breton’s unemployment rate was 11.9 per cent last month.
That’s the same as November’s jobless rate.
However, it’s a 4.3 percentage point drop compared to December of last year.
Meanwhile, Nova Scotia’s unemployment rate was up three-tenths of a percentage point from November to 7.6 per cent in December.
The national unemployment rate fell three tenths of a percentage point to 5.6 per cent, last month.
Stats Canada says 35-thousand jobs were created in December.
