Cape Breton’s Unemployment Rate Up Last Month

The latest numbers from Stats Canada show Cape Breton’s unemployment rate stood at 14.9 per cent, last month.

That’s up by three-tenths of percentage point from August and a 1.1 per cent increase from September of last year.

Meanwhile, the national unemployment rate for September was 5.9 per cent.

That’s down a tenth of a percentage point from August.

The federal agency credits an increase in part-time employment for the rise in employment.
