Slight Drop In CB Unemployment Rate, Last Month

The latest numbers from Stats Canada show Cape Breton’s unemployment rate stood at 15.3 percent, last month.

That’s a drop of three-tenths of a percentage point compared to March.

It’s also a .3 percentage point drop compared to April of last year.

Meanwhile, the national unemployment rate dropped by a tenth of a percentage point to 5.7 percent, last month.

The federal agency says employment rose by 107,000 in April with notable gains in part-time work for youth.
