CB Unemployment Rate At 16.6 Percent, Last Month
The latest numbers from Stats Canada show Cape Breton’s unemployment rate stood at 16.6 per cent, last month.
That’s down slightly by a tenth of a percentage point from January.
However, it’s 1.5 percentage points higher, compared to February of last year.
Meanwhile, the national unemployment rate remained unchanged at 5.8 percent, last month.
The federal agency says employment grew for a second consecutive month in February.
It says the addition of 56,000 more jobs was driven by gains in full-time work.
